Dr. Suwit Yodmanee, Minister
of Tourism and Sports Ministry recently presided over the opening ceremony
of the '10th Amari Watergate Hotel & BMW Group Thailand Midnight
Run' organised by the Amari Watergate Hotel in honour of
H.M. the King's 80th birthday celebrations. The atmosphere was tremendous,
with an astounding 3,300 runners this year, both local and
foreign.
The proceeds will be donated firstly to Chalerm
Prakiat School in Lampoon province, which supports the education of children whose
parents have very tragically passed away due to HIV infection and
the second beneficiary will be Baan Gerda in Lopburi province to support
HIV-infected orphans children. Donations amounted to 3.35million Baht.
Everyone who crossed the finishing line received a
special commemorative medal, sporting the symbol to mark the celebrations
of the 80th birthday for H.M. the King. The winners of the race, from 11
different categories, were announced amid joyous celebrations.
