Getting About in Chiang Mai   There are several ways, which you can get around Chiang Mai. Red truck (Song Taew) These open backed pick up trucks with seating are  like the local bus service.   They drive past every few minutes - just wave one down and tell the drive where you are going.   Then hop in the back - the fare should be no more than Baht 20.   The truck will not drop you door to door but as near as he is going on his route. Tuk Tuk Tuk Tuks will take you to exactly where you need to go, but be sure to negotiate a price first (also see getting about in Bangkok for more information on Tuk Tuks). Private Taxi If you are planning to see several things in one day or to do a lot of shopping it is much easier to have a car and driver.   This can be arranged by the hotel. Bicycle This can also be a fun way to see the city  - particularly if you ride around inside the walled city where there is not too much traffic.
