The coastal waters of the Andaman around Trang have crystal clear water
and vivid coloured coral. Large amounts of the area have been declared
national parks and there is a plentiful sea life including a wide variety
of tropical fish, sharks, manta rays, turtles and even the occasional
whale shark. Diving in Trang is made easy by the PADI dive centre at the
resort.
Depths of 20 metres are standard and visibility is good
year round although in the monsoon season of May to October, increased
silt flowing out from the rivers may slightly reduce clarity in some
areas.
There is some excellent snorkeling around the entrance
of the Emerald Cave on Koh Muk where you can see a variety of different
tropical fish and corals. There are also many other places where you can
swim around the rock base of the limestone island outcrops and sea corals
and other sea life tucked in to the rock shelves.
